Cupping
Cupping, an ancient therapeutic technique, has found a modern home at The Therapy Rooms. This method involves placing suction cups on the skin to create a vacuum, promoting increased blood flow, and releasing muscle tension. Cupping is often used to address pain, inflammation, and promote detoxification. Clients appreciate its effectiveness in providing relief from various ailments while promoting a sense of deep relaxation.
The main form of cupping practiced at The Therapy Rooms is myofascial cupping. While Swedish massage uses positive pressure, myofascial cupping uses negative pressure. It is a common technique used for soft tissue injuries. It manipulates the skin and the underlying soft tissue using, in my treatments, plastic cups.
The suction created by these cups stimulates and increases blood flow, which can help relieve joint and muscle pain, reduce inflammation, accelerate recovery, increase the function of the lymphatic and circulatory systems and increase overall relaxation and well-being. Cupping may also aid in the healing of scars and surrounding tissues. You have to be aware that these cups can leave pink to red circular marks on your body, sometimes even purple. These marks can look like a bruise, but disappear in 3 to 14 days.
